Meet Terry
Early in my leadership, I asked a well-known leader at a question-and-answer session how he stayed emotionally healthy in ministry. He didn’t answer the question very well, and later in his life he was involved in a moral failure. I recognized early on that I would need to address this area of my life because no provision was really being made for it in leadership preparation. The soul and emotions are treated almost like the enemy or a potential fire bomb that could explode and ruin everything. They are looked at in a negative light more often than in a positive way. It is wiser to acknowledge their value if they are channeled properly and trained.
My Background
Pastor and author Terry L. Roberts has been serving the Body of Christ in various capacities since 1978. He served as a missionary in Scotland before returning to America and becoming the lead pastor of Faith Christian Family Church in Warrenton, Missouri. He was headed for a career in international business when his journey was interrupted by an encounter with Jesus. His college work was put on hold in order to attend Rhema Bible College. After returning home to work with churches in Missouri he went for a year as an assistant pastor in Glasgow Scotland. He returned to Missouri again to begin pastoring Faith Christian Family Church and marry the love of his life, Becky. While pastoring he finished his undergraduate degree in Business, a masters from Regent University in Practical Theology with a small group emphasis, and a doctorate in Church Planting from Asbury Theological Seminary. He trained leaders for John Maxwell in the EQUIP million leaders mandate and he and Becky went on over forty mission trips. His passion after almost four decades of pastoring is to train pastors and create a trail to the future by helping traditional pastors as well as those wanting to work in the new wineskin of fresh expressions of church. Their family includes Jessica, her husband Jeremiah; Jonathan, his wife Nicole, and their grandsons Oliver and Finnian with one on the way. Terry is also a John Maxwell Associate.
